"What Is Real?" with Hans Christian (cello), +Ari Urban (violin) I think you'll get a kick out of What Is Real? It's got a rockin' percussion break early on! This is one of those songs that took a LOT of work. I just could not find the "key" to unlock the sonic puzzle of this song. I built the track and then tore it apart THREE times, and each of those versions was days of work! I had some great cello and some great violin and I was trying to make it all fit but it was a mess! Too much! So I said "What's most important here? Edit the rest out and ONLY bring it back if needed."

I used a melody of Hans' repeated, (+a few other parts), and some stuff from Ari. That was my way in: I had too much good stuff and it overwhelmed me (and the song); only when I chose a few special snippets to focus on did it come together.

btw: For creative fun I pieced Ari's solo from different parts of her recording; there's forty edits in 90 seconds! Took forever to construct, but it was fun and the solo is really interesting! I prolly put 70hours into this song, with all the missteps etc, but I never complain about the amount of time and work a song takes IF I find the creative solution. If I don't? Grrr.
